Eye Problems
Whether you’re myopic, hyperopic, astigmatic or presbyopic, we will help rid you of your glasses and contact lenses. At Vision Future clinics, our surgeons use the LASIK technique, the latest form of refractive laser eye surgery.
What is LASIK surgery?

LASIK is the acronym for Laser-Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis, the most popular form of refractive laser eye surgery. The procedure is performed by an ophthalmic surgeon who reshapes the cornea of the eye using an excimer laser. LASIK eye surgery alters the refractive properties of the cornea and thereby corrects or enhances myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia.

Myopia (short sight)
Causes: If you are myopic, you see nearby objects clearly but distant objects appear blurred. This visual defect is caused by an eyeball that is too long or a cornea that is too steep.
Laser eye surgery: LASIK eye surgery involves reducing the curvature of the cornea and can correct myopias of -1 to -12 dioptries.
Hyperopia (long sight)
Causes: If you are hyperopic, your vision is blurry particularly for nearby objects. This visual defect is caused by an eyeball that is too short.
Laser eye surgery: LASIK eye surgery increases the curvature of the cornea and can correct hyperopias of +1 to +6 dioptries.
Astigmatism
Causes: If you are astigmatic, your vision is blurry for nearby and distant objects. This visual defect is caused by irregularities in the curvature of the cornea.
Laser eye surgery: LASIK eye surgery smooths out the curvature of the cornea and can correct almost any astigmatism.
Presbyopia
Causes: Presbyopia usually occurs at around age 40. Your close-up vision becomes increasingly blurry, making it difficult to read, especially small print. This visual defect is caused by normal ageing of the crystalline lens.
Laser eye surgery: LASIK eye surgery reshapes the cornea to make it multifocal and can treat almost all presbyopias, whether they are related or not to other vision problems (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism).
